2022 Pleasures of Panama Fundraiser

Here are the prizes and details:

GRAND PRIZE: an amazing fishing trip for 4 on the world-renowned Hannibal Bank with "Sport Fish Panama", then enjoy dinner and one night stay at Sport Fish Panama Island Lodge - value $3,100 (or cash of $1,000) see ***

2nd Prize: up to 8 people can yacht the morning or afternoon away in the beautiful waters around Bocas del Toro, then enjoy a 2-night stay for 4 in a 2 bedroom villa at Red Frog Beach Island Resort (or cash of $500)

3rd Prize: one pound of Geisha coffee per month for a year from award-winning Hacienda La Esmeralda. Coffee can be shipped to you if you live outside of Panama.

A maximum of 200 tickets will be sold. Tickets are $100 each and you may purchase one or more. The drawing will be held on April 15, 2022. Winners do not need to be present.

Why we rely on fundraisers and donations:

Amigos de Animales was started in 2005 as a direct response to a need in the Boquete community. At the time, there were packs of street dogs and feral cats roaming the streets and there was no access to, or information about, sterilization for these animals.

Through March 2022 we have spayed and neutered 21,177 animals – 11,265 dogs and 9,912 cats. The impact on the health of animals and humans is measurable. Rarely does one see packs of starving, fighting dogs roaming through the streets of Boquete, as one might see in other small towns throughout Central America. This has greatly enhanced the relative livability and safety of our community at large.

At the clinics, we have charged $15 per dog and $8 per cat, but no one is turned away from the clinics for inability to pay. Starting in 2022 we raised our prices to $20 per dog and $10 per cat.

We had been paying our vets $12 per dog and $6 per cat. Other clinics are paying more than that, so we have raised the amounts we pay the vets to $15 per dog and $8 per cat.

Our actual costs (including the above increases) are over $25 per animal spayed or neutered. At a typical clinic of 200 animals we will be short over $2,500. We rely on fundraising to make up the difference.

For each ticket purchased, you are covering the cost of sterilizing 4 animals.

Your contribution is vital to our cause of decreasing the population of street dogs and cats in our area and reducing the number of unwanted and abandoned animals. Donating will help us continue our services and good work in Boquete and the surrounding area.

We have created a U.S. not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation, Amigos de Animales, Inc. Your donation will go to it and should be eligible as a charitable contribution. If you are a U.S. citizen, you can deduct $300 on your tax return ($600 joint), even if you don't itemize deductions
